Walk to the park

Most days Avery is at school and Maya is at daycare, for at least part of the day. But one day was a PD day and I also had them home on the weekends. Some evenings both Aimee and Mike are working (crazy schedules, they are so lucky that they have a flexible day care provider).

One of those days that the kids were home with me, we walked to the park.

Through the neighbourhood and up "the mountain" so we could see the park from the top.

Some things are still the same - Mike and Chris used to love the spring toys in Jury St park, Paris, and Avery and Maya enjoyed this plane spring toy.

The sign says its designed for 5 to 12 year olds (oops) and adult supervision is recommended

no kidding, complex construction of ropes and platforms.

Even Avery was taking some of them slowly

and carefully.

Maya was more intimidated

after all she is under the recommended age.

She was happier on the slides

and when there were other kids to play with, social distancing in play.

A climbing wall

with creatures, but it was too difficult to climb with boots and gloves on.

Its all in how you hold your tongue. We ended with the swings (not easy to alternately push two kids and keep the dog out of the way) and then walked home. No problem getting tired kids to go for a nap!

Avery has nearly got the hang of riding his two wheeler without the training wheels. With the time change I was taking the photo towards the setting sun.

This morning it was surprisingly warm enough for coffee in the sun on the front porch

watching a guy on stilts in the construction site across the road.
