Port Rowan new park

Last week I had an hour between appointments in Port Rowan so, rather than drive home and back in, I walked around the town. Apart from "The Villages" and another small sub-division, the neighbourhoods are old and mixed. Closer to the lake there are more likely to be larger old homes and I know from the local paper that at one time there were also large hotels.
Looking out over the Bay, at the base of the main street, is a parkette, known as "the new park" even though it has been there for 3 or 4 years. The Canada Day poster even said that the festivities would be held at "new park". I wonder if it will be forever called "new park".
It has a lookout area with benches and native plant landscaping and (oh joy) an abundance of information boards.
They describe the geography and history of the area as well as some of the wildlife.
There is even one about nautical signal flags
The flags when I was there spelled Canada 150.
The path meanders down to the little harbour with its docks
and boathouses.

Walking back up the main street I passed a number of these red painted bikes with white flowers in their baskets. They have been organized by the local BIA and sponsored by local businesses.
As it is summer and everyone has returned to enjoy Long Point, the nearest cell tower is overloaded and my internet is often non existent. Although I have lots to write about, blogging will probably be sporadic. Thank you Bell!
