More Vegas - Pinball Museum, Mandalay Bay Cabana

I am realizing that I need to do a blog post every day because we are packing so much into the days. I am also taking some pictures with my phone, some with my camera and receiving some from family members phones...all a bit confusing in terms of the time lines of the activities. Anyway, I think I have this in approximately the right order.

After swimming at the Cosmopolitan pool we returned to the apartment and Chris and Jason had been shopping and made us tacos for supper.

After supper we bought 24hr passes for "The Deuce"
Originally The Deuce meant four things: (1) buses on the route were double decked; (2) the one-way fare was $2; (3) the route served the two primary gaming areas, the Strip and Downtown; and (4) the first batch of vehicles bought primarily for the service were assigned fleet numbers starting with "2". (from Wikepedia)
and took it to the LasVegas sign.

We didn't bother standing with the crowds waiting to get their pictures taken under it. Having it in the background was good enough for us.

Just a short walk away

and we changed some bills into quarters and wandered the aisles of pinball machines. Chris remembers playing this one in Brantford at the Cineplex.

Sorry, lousy picture but the lighting wasn't great. Maya and Cigi playing air hockey. Maya won by a small margin. I'm not sure if Cigi was upset that she'd lost or upset that the game was over.

Back on "the Deuce" and we went to the Flamingo Hotel to see, yep, you guessed it, the flamingos. It was dark by then and Cigi was a little nervous of strange places in the dark as well as various costumed characters out on the side walks.

Vegas at night was far more crowded than we had experienced walking around during daylight, more hawkers, more buskers and more" feather/flower girls" (the name Avery gave to the women dressed as showgirls who charge you to have your picture taken with them, he couldn't believe how scantily dressed they were).

The next day we had booked a cabana at Mandalay Bay Hotel as it was listed as one of the best pools for kids.

Back on the Deuce and through the jungle inspired hotel grounds.

The Cabana that Chris had chosen when she booked was right next to the lazy river and came with towels, inner tubes, a couch, TV, frig stocked with water and pop, and a couple of loungers.

We ordered food and alcoholic drinks at exorbitant prices and spent the day floating around on the river, playing in the wave pool and soaking in the hot tub.

Also lounging!

Wiped River out for a long nap but Cigi was too excited by the whole experience to nap.

Back to the apartment to make pasta sauce for dinner.

We looked into the shows playing here and wondered about any that the kids would enjoy. I would have paid to see Shania but unfortunately, although she has a residency, she wasn't doing any shows in October. So Chris and Jason went to see the Las Vegas Knights (hockey) opener, and I put an exhausted Cigi to bed.
