Vegas and a photo shoot

Yesterday I stayed back at the apartment while the rest went for a hike near the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead. I thought it best to rest my knee (torn meniscus) and my brain (too much stimulation/noise) so I relaxed, read and tidied up a bit.

They all got home after a good hike and we rushed to get ready for a family photo shoot that had been booked with a local photographer.

We met the photographer in a casino parking lot (of course) and followed her out to Red Rock Canyon.

George and I had hiked out there when we had come, nearly 30 years ago, with Cyndy and Jim.

While she took pictures of the different family groupings

I played around taking photos of those

waiting their turn.

Mike, Avery and River were really not into it,

and Maya had to do a funny dance to keep Cigi smiling

but Maya herself would have been happy in front of the camera all day long.

Cousins. Hopefully the photographer will be able to make something out of the bedlam.

We then went for sushi (I think this was Cigis first try at using chop sticks) (Photo by Chris)

before heading back. River, much more proficient with chop sticks. (photo by Chris)

The following are some photos that Aimee sent me, taken on her phone.

Today we packed up and left the Jockey Club apartment on the strip.

Had breakfast at Dunkin Donuts. I had to take a photo of River's donut. Isn't this how everyone wants to eat them...just the icing off the top.

Next stop "The Claw"

A location filled with the machines that you guide to try and pick up a prize with a claw contraption. I feel this is a childrens gateway activity to a gambling addiction.

However it was a lot of fun

and didn't disappoint

in terms of the number of prizes "won".

Mike, Aimee and the kids spent the afternoon at Freemont Street, in old Las Vegas and Jason, Chris, Cigi and I got our rooms at the Sunset Station Hotel. Cigi napped and we went swimming.

It is on the outskirts of Vegas and I was able to watch the sun disappear from the mountains, from my window,

the sunset from Mike and Aimee's window (while waiting for pizza to be delivered) and

the lights come on on the Vegas strip, in the distance.

Meanwhile, back in Port Dover, Spellbound came out of the water on Wednesday and Blueberry Hill and Caleidoscope came out today. Photo by Rick.
