| Back into Valencia via our normal route and again headed for the City of Arts and Science area. |
| Still awed by the architecture. |
| This time we were headed to |
| the science building. |
| The entrance lobby was huge, the ticket machines confusing (so many options of exhibits, movies etc) and the signage once you got a ticket was hard to find. We needed to refuel so had a coffee and a donut before embarking on the next step. (We asked what Spanish for "donut" was and were informed, it is "donut"- that's the spelling here by the way) |
| We started on the top floor which had the general theme of "Space". This, in the section about Earth, is how much plastic a human ingests in 6 months. Scary! |
| The amazing building dwarfed and distracted from the exhibits. |
| Models of the equipment from the various space programs. |
| There was a section on the moon, |
| on Mars and |
| on the International Space Station. |
| There was a section on the human body and DNA. All very interactive and geared to kids. |
| The most interesting, for me, |
| an exhibit on the genius of Leonardo Da Vinci. |
| Just amazing how many things he invented. Some still in use today ie double hulled ships, now used for oil tankers. |
| Mona Lisa using various scanning techniques to determine his painting process. |
| Original colour vs |
| how she looks now. |
| You could take your photo in front of the same backdrop - can't get that little smirk she's got, should have been looking down not up. |
| It's a magnificent building, the exhibits are good and very child friendly |
| but overall the science exhibits felt a bit sparse for all that space. |
We took the bus back up to the Metro station, popped in to a little tapas bar and had the best tapas so far, while the heavens opened outside. It had stopped raining by the time we stopped eating and we made our way home in time for me to meet my landlords aunt and pay her the rest of my rent. Then Gord treated us to dinner out at a local restaurant and we walked home along the beach. Great last day for him as he leaves Saturday to return to the UK for a couple of weeks with family.
