Last weekend was the Hewson Regatta, held, every year in June, by the Port Dover Yacht Club Racing Division. We set out on a calm Saturday morning and ended up motoring down the lake for quite a while before there was enough wind for a race.

Jeff and Jacquie, on Enigma, were our start line crew. In this photo Jeff is fast asleep and Jacquie is
reading a book while the boat is on auto-helm. On Zatarrathe auto-helm is called "Otto".
On Between the Sheets its "Lucy" as it is a little loose. |

Eventually the wind filled in and we were able to get the Asymetrical sail up and flying but, after a
few hours of fickle wind, we took it down and motored to the finish line. Some boats stuck it out and
others withdrew from the race. |

Between the Sheets was our finish line boat. This photo shows Special K heading towards the finish
in very light wind. It's a painful way to end a race, wondering whether there is even enough wind to
give you steerage.
I am having a difficult time with the blog program today so am going to try continuing this post on a follow-up. |
