Maine - South Thomaston

South Thomaston is a hamlet just outside the community of Rockland ( Rockland's population is on just over 7,000). A short walk from the house takes us to the Keag Store for breakfast and some very basic groceries (and of course wine and beer). Next door is the Art of the Sea Gallery and across the road, the public library. Sitting at the picnic tables across from the library we can access the internet and watch the goings on in the little harbour.
House on the walk down. Most of the houses are pale grey or white clapboard with white trim.
The church across the harbour had a supper the second day we were here. We intended to go.
Their pies are supposed to be fabulous and you pick them up first or you miss out. We were too tired
though and didn't end up attending.
The tidal river at low tide.
South Thomaston from the dock. On the left is the gallery and on the right the
restaurant/store.
Looking toward the sea, from town.
A cormorant drying its wings. While sitting by the dock checking my emails, the first evening,
I watched a bald eagle dive, catch a fish and fly up into a dead tree to eat.
The Art of the Sea Gallery is located in the old post office building, built in 1840.
They claim to be the largest nautical art gallery in Maine.
