Bruce Trail- - Map 10, Mount Nemo Conservation Area to Derry Rd

Back on the trail again! Nic and I last hiked at the end of May. June was a write off due to radiation and we had not booked anything in the warmest months of the summer.

For our first hike of the season we would have liked a nice short one, perhaps 5km. However we were unable to find convenient parking spots so planned on 7km, starting where we left off in May, at Mount Nemo Conservation area.

The first 3.8km were on road but a field of animals was a nice distraction - shaggy cattle,

cute Alpacas, donkeys, goats and sheep.

It was hotter than forecast, and humid, so we were very pleased to get into the woods.

More roads and then back into the woods again but it seemed to be taking us too long to get back to the car. We consulted google maps and a couple of other sites on Nic's phone and concluded that we had somehow overshot the parking spot, even though we had been following the white Bruce trail flashes the whole time.

Turning around we went back to the road and walked on it, thru Kilbride and back to the car. On the way we passed the old Bruce Trail (the one on our map, which is old) with its signs of "Trail Closed" and "No Trespassing".

We had parked the car at the "P" by the left arrow. Dave dropped us at the right arrow. We overshot the car to the "X" on the left and then walked on the roads to get back to it. Out 7km hike turned into approximately 11kms. We were exhausted, and will buy the new edition of the maps and download the new app.

Revitalized by an Iced Capp we hit Northlands Nursery for some plants for me to plant on the bank. All native, all drought tolerant.
