Taken out of our bedroom door, this is our courtyard and through the wall at the far end is our pool. It is very private and shaded by huge trees but long enough to get a nice breeze. |
We had no coffee in the house so I had to get a coffee on the way - cafe con leche, 15.0 Mex $ (just under $1.50)
It took us about 20 mintutes to walk there and then about another 20 minutes to walk down to the Central Square (Plaza Centro). It got very touristy once we were right downtown but also quite crowded with local people too. The mercado turned out to be like a mall rather than a produce market so we walked back up to Barrio Santiago, where we had seen a produce market, and bought our tomatoes, avocados, onions, and garlic there. There were quite a few things I didn't recognize but we will gradually try them. We stopped at a bread shop and bought a large roll, something that looked like a pound cake, a strudel like thing and a large chocolate cookie - eventually we will try everything they had. Ate the cookie in the park and it was dry but quite flavorful.
Walking home from the supermarket we were ladened down with beer, wine, cooking oil as well as cerial, meat etc etc and glad to get home.
The rest of the afternoon was spent swimmimg, drinking wine and laying in the hammock - enough walking for the first day.
