Merida, 2013 - day1

We have internet at the house in Merida so I am going to try and do a log entry every day (or 2 days anyway)
The travel day was pretty uneventful. We found it difficult to get to Merida from Toronto, seemed to take one or two stops to get there and timing was difficult. Even harder to find a reasonable flight. So we ended up flying from Toronto to Cleveland, Cleveland to Houston, Houston to Merida, with 2 or 3 hour lay overs at each airport. Arriving in Merida at 10:30 pm after leaving Christines, in Toronto, at 6:30 am.

Little commuter, prop, plane we took from Toronto to Cleveland. Had 5 seats across the back, like a bus.
After a long line for Mexican "immigration" and then another long line for Mexican "customs" we were greeted by Hannah who manages the Casa Bonito for Mario. She is a young English woman who came to Merida as part of her BA in Latin American Studies, returned to England for a Masters in Art History (Latin American) and came back. The art gallery she worked in is now closed and so she is waiting to see what she will do next. As she said "its a nice place to wait".
She showed us around the house and we then crashed and slept with the fan on and both the doors to outside open - lovely breeze.
