October activities.

October, so far, has been about end of summer chores and enjoying the weather and outside opportunities while they last.

I bought a large box of Daffodil bulbs from Costco and Nicola pointed out that it was a good way to feed the squirrels,

 

so I have been planting them, covering them with chicken wire and then covering that with dirt. Hope it works. The squirrels are fat enough.

As predicted by Don, the Limelight Hydrangea has turned pink

but I cut off the blooms, when I had it moved away from the house, and am drying them inside.

Sometimes the garden provides a surprise.

Fall can produce big wind storms and this one slid a couple of the chairs off the deck, knocked over the plant pots that are weighted down by stones

and blew one of the tiles out of the coffee table and on to the lawn.

Sitting at "the edge" requires a blanket at this time of year

but the sunset is worth it.

This years crew of Mark, Dave, Rick and myself readied Caleidoscope for haul out on another extremely windy day.

Rick and my walks and bike rides have been exploring the rail trail between Port Dover and Brantford

This fisherman was on the Grand near downtown Brantford. I had never seen someone fly fishing before.
