Arizona - Cockscomb Trail

I don't know if Rick has contracted the cough I had in Thailand or if he has picked up his own, but he's experiencing the same difficulty sleeping and constant tiredness, along with the cough and congestion. But he also can't stand doing nothing so we set out

to hike the Cockscomb trail. It leaves from the same trailhead as Fay Canyon and we were, again, lucky enough to get a parking spot.

This one had been recommended by someone we met on a trail, as an easy one and it certainly started that way.

A sandy path through meadows of dry grass.

Views, of course, in every direction.

We started off along Aerie trail which went parallel to the road, as it looked like that would put the more challenging part of the hike near the beginning. Yep, we were both in shorts.

There were some

minor ups and downs and I was a little concerned because I had forgotten to wear my knee brace.

We got as far as where the trail crossed a road and Rick decided he just didn't have the energy for it so we turned back, having gone about a mile.

Returned the way we had come - 2 miles, 1 hour. We will have to try this trail again . We drove up to a nearby lookout to eat our lunch, came home and Rick napped.
