We decided to try and get up to the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona again. As we were there earlier in the day we thought we had a chance.
But no, there was still a traffic jam going up the hill to the Chapel so we turned into a side street to turn around |
and found that we could at least get some photos from there. The houses on the street were definitely high end but they probably have to put up with this all the time. |
I kept getting Rick to stop so I could jump out and take another photo. |
We probably wont bother trying again so I wont get to see inside (if that is even possible) |
But I now have some shots of it in its stunning location. |
Then we drove through Sedona and on to the road that leads back to Clarkville and took the road that climbs up on to the mesa where the airport is. We parked at the airport and walked over to the cafe there, where you can watch the planes taking off. It is just a small airport with small, probably privately owned planes and Rick wondered about the effect on taking off at this high altitude.
We then walked over to the lookout (where there is also supposed to be a vortex) |
The Airport Mesa Vortex is known for being one of the best places for
quiet contemplation and reflection. It is known as an upflow area that
helps your spirit and energy for a higher perspective and feeling of
oneness. A perfect spot to meditate and reconnect to yourself. from canyonvilla.com

The kids, grandkids and I came up here last time I was here, in the evening, to watch the sunset. There were crowds of people taking pictures and music (Cigi danced). This time there were just a few taking selfies and shots of the views that stretch out in every direction. |

California Nebula. Photo by Rick. He wants to take some more of this and stack more to get better clarity and colour. |
