Ceret - Picking up Aimee and reminders of home in Argeles

Dad and I went to pick up Aimee from Barcelona Airport today. She was greeted by a grey rainy day but warmer than home. There are an amazing number of trucks on the highway through the Pyrenees and down past Barcelona as it is a major route to Southern Spain and North Africa. Our trip down went very well taking us about 2 hours unfortunately an accident caused a huge backup of trucks on the way back. So, no pictures of today.
Yesterday after lunch at Port Argeles, Mum and I walked along the port and the beach at Argeles sur Mer.
There is a small section of Port Argeles devoted to fishing boats and an area where they
sell fresh fish to the public.
One boat had just come in and the fishermen were pulling the net out, untangling it and taking
the fish out of the net.
Gradually filling a plastic tray with a variety of species.
Rules are quite clear for each section of the beach. Here you can windsurf.
And yep, there was a windsurfer.
Here you can't windsurf but it doesn't say you can't kiteboard.
So there were kiteboarders. Reminded me of home.
Another reminder of home and the work that will have to be done, soon after my return.
The area started to seriously develop as a resort in the late 1800s and some of those
original villas front onto the beach.
Some of them have lovely grounds, patios, large trees.
After driving home I thought I should walk off some of that wonderfully rich food. I drove up onto the Le Ventous trail and started walking towards Reynes.
The grape vine's buds are nearly ready to open. Hopefully it will happen
this week, before we leave.
Most of the vines are either pruned to grow along rows of wires or are gnarled and squat.
These vines near the top of the hill were pruned like twisted dancers reaching for the sky.
