Yesterday after lunch at Port Argeles, Mum and I walked along the port and the beach at Argeles sur Mer.
There is a small section of Port Argeles devoted to fishing boats and an area where they sell fresh fish to the public. |
One boat had just come in and the fishermen were pulling the net out, untangling it and taking the fish out of the net. |
Gradually filling a plastic tray with a variety of species. |
Rules are quite clear for each section of the beach. Here you can windsurf. |
And yep, there was a windsurfer. |
Here you can't windsurf but it doesn't say you can't kiteboard. |
So there were kiteboarders. Reminded me of home. |
Another reminder of home and the work that will have to be done, soon after my return. |
The area started to seriously develop as a resort in the late 1800s and some of those original villas front onto the beach. |
Some of them have lovely grounds, patios, large trees. |
The grape vine's buds are nearly ready to open. Hopefully it will happen this week, before we leave. |
Most of the vines are either pruned to grow along rows of wires or are gnarled and squat. These vines near the top of the hill were pruned like twisted dancers reaching for the sky. |
