2015 Lake Erie Interclub - Committee Boat Day 2

The 3rd race of the Interclub and our second as committee boat was around Long Point Bay. This was our first time starting seven fleets in a row and we were a little nervous about it. Chuck on Mark Set provided us with flags and a wonderful little box with a timer and a horn. All we had to do was put up and take down the appropriate flags when the box beeped and told us to. A bit Pavlovian.

My job was putting up and taking down the Prep Flag and then checking that no-one went over the line ahead of the start. Pretty busy, so little time for pictures.
Unlike the previous day, it was a beautiful sunny day with a steady wind.
I only had a chance for pictures after each fleet had set off.
Everything went well and all 56 boats were off and on their way around Long Point Bay. We headed back in to shore. Unfortunately Chuck shortened the course, as the wind was dropping, and he had taken most of the finish times before we got out to the Nanticoke buoy.
I had the chance to take some nice shots as we made our way out. This is Dreamer, beautiful!
We finished the last boats, Shaibu and the Fog, and then headed back in for the next stage of the event. Party!
Many of the boats were rafted beside each other at the Port Dover Yacht Club, bar open,
Fish Fry dinner, live band and distribution of the flags for the first 3 races.
The Caliedascope crew. Looking pretty happy with 2 flags under their belts already.
