Cindy finally saw the owls

I don't know how many years that Cyndy has been coming down to Long Point, in the fall, to see the banding of the Saw-whet owls at the Long Point banding station. She has been thwarted by rain, high winds, cold, you name it there has been a reason why there have been no owls. Finally, last weekend, after one wildly windy night (when there was no way that any owls would be flying) there was a favourable night.

We went over to the banding station at about 8:30 and there was one being banded.
They do all the same things; sexing, aging, measuring etc, that they do with the birds they catch during the day.
Next net check there were 3 more. Drawn in to the nets by a recording of a mating call they are fascinating, tiny and very cute.
