Brit got a "heads up" that there was a market in Louisberg, 30 minutes away, this afternoon, so that gave us a destination for today.
Just before the town we turned onto the road that would take us out to the lighthouse.
Houses and wharves along the shore.
We stopped at a lookout and, stepping out of the car,
and realized how windy it was. Photo by Brit.
A crab boat went by,
the fortress across the bay and
our first view of the lighthouse.
We continued out to the end, parked
Eider ducks in the water
We walked up and around
snapping away and getting buffeted by the wind. Photo by Brit.
Into the village and the market, small but lots of people.
We took a walk along the shore
which is a nice mix of commercial and
areas with picnic tables and a path.
The birds were going crazy for something in the water.
Lots of fishing, or crabbing, or lobster, boats.
Wharves |
piled high with rows
of lobster pots.

Coast Guard
Brit noticed this odd looking plant.
Common Horsetail.
On the hard, among the fishing boats, a wooden sailboat.
The name means: freeborn, no longer enslaved, freed.
I found a video on how it was built (over 19years, by a Canadian couple):
