So nice to not have to get on the road. We slept in and had a leisurely coffee and breakfast with Brit and Rick and then discussed plans for the next few days.
First we drove out to the cottage owned by Brit's son Thomas and his wife, Alex, that they use for AirBnB.
On the Mira River. Very windy today.
They had guests due to arrive that afternoon
so we got to pop in
and take a look.
The high point is the sauna overlooking the river. All Brit could get was reflections when she tried to take a picture of us in there.
I could just stay in there.

They are also finishing up a cottage next door, also beautiful with 2 bedrooms. This one has a hot tub!

Photo by Brit. Note the blue sky, finally.
Next stop was Two River Wildlife Park. Photo by Brit.
In the first enclosure, a beautiful moose.
Huge. He made us realize we really did not want to come across one on the highway.
According to the website the animals have either been born in captivity or rescued and can no longer live in the wild.
It was a lovely walk, (Pussy willow)
through the woods (Coltsfoot)
between the enclosures, holding mostly North American wildlife. (Lichen)
Red Fox
I just missed one snapping at the other "leave me alone".
"I just want to sleep in the sun"
Rough Legged Hawks.
Great Horned Owls.
A "blue coloured" Arctic Fox.
Wolf. |
A very angry little Lynx.
There was lots of Fiona damage in evidence
An article, on line, said that although enclosures were damaged none of the animals were injured or escaped.
We stopped in the petting zoo and then came home for wine, in the sun, on the front porch.
