On our last night in Sydney we took Brit and Rick out to dinner to say thank you for their hospitality.
The Lobster Pound is in North Sydney right next to the docks for the ferries that go to Newfoundland.
We all ordered the Lobster and Shrimp Club
which came with salad or fries. Nic and I asked for it without the grilled bread.
Brit and Rick had it as a club sandwich. It was huge! And delicious.
Unfortunately the lobster season opened the next day, so, the chef said, he would not serve lobster dinners until he could buy it at the wharf next door.
Rick's "doggie bag"
It was a small restaurant and unfortunately they wont be able to open the deck area as it was damaged by Fiona.
Oyster shell flower. The owners are the chef and server, plus one other server.
More decor.
The chef came out of the kitchen and showed us some of the decor items ... whale vertebrae and
some huge lobsters. The meat had been eaten and then his wife had
painted them.
This morning we packed the car and left the house at 8:30. This was the view from our Tim Horton's stop on the way to taking Brit to Halifax airport, for her to fly to Toronto.
After a quick lunch it was on to Amherst, Nova Scotia.
I had seen a particular colour of yarn that I wanted to pick up
but of course
I got more than just that and
we looked at all Deanne's rugs.
This was one of our longest days of driving but overall the weather was good and Nicky just got a bad hour of high winds and periodic down pours, at the end.
The Days Inn in Oromocto has a pool (I swam) and a large bedroom and after eating out for lunch we decided to just eat snacks in the room for supper. George and I had come here, years ago, to attend Mike's graduation ceremony from Combat Engineering at CFB Gagetown.
