The club has a nice main building with a restaurant for members only but a bar/restaurant that we could use as guests, a huge deck overlooking the club and Cleveland, a pavilion overlooking the lake, a pool and sundeck, nice washrooms and showers and free laundry. Time to do 3 loads of laundry (took us 'til 11pm).
While having a glass of wine on the deck, it began to fill with women and we learned it was women's race night. The boat had to be crewed by women throughout the race but a male coach could be on board and could help prior to the race. The trophy, in the clubhouse, indicated this had been conducted since 1999.
Some of the boats going out for women's race night. We were told there were 4 classes: PHRF, Tartan, and 2 J classes (22 and 70). There were a total of 18 boats out that night. |
Westside Market |
First of all crepes and coffee for breakfast. I had one with spinach, cheese and egg, made with buckwheat flour. |
Fresh pasta. |
We over bought of course and had to keep reminding ourselves to stick to the list. Luckily all 3 of us went as we were all loaded down with bags by the time we had finished, which included going to a book store and a grocery store.
When we got back to the boat we decided it was too late to leave (over 4 hours of shopping will do that) and so we stayed another night. Wednesday night is the regular race night and Edgewater is a serious racing club. Next post!
