Put-in Bay, Western Lake Erie

After relaxing at Middle Bass we decided it was time to try the party island of South Bass. We took the first available ferry - 11am.
The ferry is a fishing tug
Put in Bay was pretty quiet as we arrived, lots of empty slips, but we were not there on the weekend, it was a Friday. We stopped first for lunch at the main pier, The Boardwalk, where I had delicious lobster bisque. We then walked up to the winery where we had a tour of it and the Crystal Cave.
The cave was quite small and very tight quarters.
But the crystals were amazing, naturally occurring, 14 sided and a dusty blue/green.
The wine tour was brief and unexceptional and the wines were quite sweet. Sharon and I hit the chocolate store, Paul and Gill the bar upstairs and the rest went to another set of caves. Then the barhopping and shopping started in earnest.
We put an X through each bar as we drank there (actually I had a few virgin Mojitos as I was not
planning on keeping pace with the die hard drinkers)
Crossing the street we had to dodge cars and golf carts, many driven by tourists who
didn't really know how to drive them.
We finished up the bar hopping back by the bay, where there is a nice park with flowers, fountains
and cannons. The slips were also getting full up with boats in for the races.
We had an excellent supper at Hooligans (Irish Pub) and then hit one last bar before catching the last ferry back to Middle Bass (at 9pm)
Two happy drunks.
Shark shots. Yep, shots served in sharks!
Some of us (Ok, I think it was Andy and I) sang loudly and badly, on the ferry ride home.
