Middle Bass Island, Western Lake Erie

Last week I drove down to Ohio with three others to join 4 Port Dover boats that had sailed down. The drive was uneventful except for a frustrating hour and a half in a small, cold, crowded room at the border. We had done nothing wrong, just a Border Patrol Officer either chose us at random or didn't like the British Passport one of us was travelling with. Anyway we got to be treated like criminals by sullen, rude and often intimidating officials. Had to ask permission to even go to the bathroom. Great introduction to the States.
We took the car ferry to Middle Bass. There are various ferries plying these waters to various islands
We were packed in so tight we had to climb out the windows to get out.
Old lighthouse on South Bass, the metal structure is the new lighthouse
This is someone's cottage, I've no idea how they got
it up there.
After a 45 minute ferry ride we passed South Bass with Commodore Perry's monument and arrived at the Middle Bass ferry dock.
Commodore Perry's monument. This can be seen from miles away if coming by land or by water.
The abandoned Lonz Winery is right next to the ferry dock.
Between the Sheets (with Andy and Debra), Amazing Grace(with Terry and Les) and Zattara (with Paul and Sharon) were all already at their docks and settled in. Enigma (with Jeff and Gill) had been forced to wait another day by rough water.
Between the Sheets with her kayaks on the dock, ready to go.
We had supper, a short period of socializing and were in bed before 10 (cruisers midnight).
