New Orleans Road Trip - Day 2

Fort Wayne, Indiana to Effingham, Illinois

This is what we woke to. We hadn't driven far enough to get beyond the snow. Aimee and Greg's rig.
We got off to a better start, on the road by about 10 with an agreement that we wouldn't go over 90km/hr while the roads were snowy or icy. The temperatures were not that low so the driving was actually fine and we drove through Indianapolis without any real traffic issues either. We pulled into the campsite in Effingham at about 3:30 and the last hours drive was lovely. All on Hwy 70 south so I didn't have to worry about an exit, changing lanes or letting the lead vehicle out of my sight. Truck traffic was consistent but not the mass that we had seen yesterday.
I spent the first hour listening to BBC world, the next listening to "The Highway" (a country station) and the rest of the time flipping between 70's and 80's stations. Singing along when I felt like it (no-one to be critical of my singing).
The campsite was nice, with pull through sites surrounded by oak trees full of grey squirrels.
Aimee and Greg unhitched and we drove into Walmart for those things we had forgotten. I got an electric heater, fly swatter (cold weather makes the flies love the trailer) and a snow brush (didn't think of it when I packed).

The campsite had a store but also a lounge with a bar and video gaming.
Aimee and I walked around to stretch our legs after the 2 days of driving. There are some lovely sites right on the lake but they are not wasted on transients like us.

We ate together, sharing the cooking, and then played cards. I stepped out of their trailer to find it snowing again! Hopefully tomorrow we will be south enough to be done with that.
