New Orleans Road Trip - Day 3

Effingham, Illinois to Memphis, Tennessee.
Snow on the ground and it was very cold this morning but the washroom facilities were nice and warm and the shower felt wonderful. The plan today was to drive about 4 or 5 hours to New Madrid. We went to drive out, at about 10am,  and the brakes on Aimee and Greg's trailer were locked, they were just dragging it leaving huge ruts in the gravel. Turned out that in unhitching it the previous night they had inadvertently pulled out the cable for the emergency braking system Aimee got on her back under the trailer and reconnected it. They got service lights on their dashboard but unhooking the electrical system and then reconnecting it seemed to fix that (Just like any computer system the first solution is always - turn it off and then turn it on again).
It was a lovely day to drive, sunny and crisp. Lots of colour in the foliage still. Not too many trucks on the road as it was Saturday. We were seeing Memphis on the road signs now! At a rest stop Aimee asked if I wanted to try and get all the way to Graceland today. As it was a nice day and I was really looking forward to being in one place for a while (get completely hooked up - not just hydro - put the slide out, leave stuff on the counter) we called the Graceland campsite to see if they had room for us. Reserved our sites and then settled in. BBC world was broadcasting a soccer game (boring if you don't know the players or care about the team) so I tried listening to a Lee Child book on CD but got too engrossed and didn't notice I needed gas until the yellow light came on and GPS asked if I would like to be directed to a gas station! The book was too brutal anyway so moved onto a lighter book and a variety of music stations.
We pulled into the Graceland RV site at about 4:30. Successfully backed into our sites (we had been lucky enough to get pull throughs the other nights) and got completely hooked up; hydro, water and sewer. Behind us was a Canadian couple who had just come from New Orleans and were on their way back to Ottawa.
Snacks for supper and a game of cards

and now I am settled into the daybed in my trailer

checking out what Memphis has to offer.
The internet is a little slow so the blogs from here will probably not be photo rich.
