After a busy day yesterday we took it easier today and headed down the rail trail in the morning as showers were forecast for the afternoon (we never saw them).

Rabbit by the rail trail and
Goosander in the river, where I also saw a flash of brilliant, iridescent blue, as a bird flew under the bridge. On looking it up, it must have been a Kingfisher.
We explored the "sensory garden" in the park that we have walked past every day.
Don could identify most
but not all, of the plants.
The community hall craft fair was open. Last time I bought a photo and some pen and ink sketches. This time, although tempted by many items, I bought a pottery garlic keeper.
The lake was moody today with impressive clouds.
We walked along the path
beside the lake until
we reached a bench, where we could sit and contemplate the view,
the fall foliage on the island,
the launch powering by and
the peaceful location.
We walked back
through more gardens
and stopped
for a drink, surrounded by people and dogs,
at the dog and gun.
Back up the hill to the house and had a leisurely afternoon. Did a little packing and organizing and then headed out to drive to the The Pheasant Inn
where we met Karen and John (my cousin) for dinner, as they live in the Lake District.
