Ceret - settling in.

George and I and Mum and Dad spent 2 months in Ceret, 3 years ago. Now we are back again. We arrived yesterday after the usual long days of travel and is was immediately worth it. We drove from Barcelona (about 2 hours), experiencing strong winds, sunny skies and occasional rain. Quite chilly for this area but warm as far as we are concerned, 10degrees. We were met by our landlady who showed us everything and will be around for a few days in case we have other questions. I do not let myself get too excited over accommodation booked on the internet as pictures can be deceiving, but this place is lovely.
We park here, in Place de la Republique and from our apartment look across at this, the public library.
This is our building, we enter through the green door and have the ground and first floors.
Yesterday, when we arrived, the front of the building was covered in scaffolding. Now the
scaffolding is on the side and across the back.
We knew the building was being painted but it was supposed to be done by the time we got here, unfortunately, the wet weather has held it up but they should be done by the end of this week. Luckily the church bells woke us shortly before 8 this morning as the painters started work at 8. It will look lovely when it's finished.
The windows in Mum and Dad's bedroom.
We were in bed by 9 yesterday and although we were all awake around 2 or 3a.m. we slept again and woke refreshed. Mum and I went in search of croissant and found only one bakery open today, its Monday. After breakfast we went shopping to stock up as we will be here for 2 months.
Even though the library, across the square, is 3 stories high, the morning sun still
streams in through our living room windows.

A perfect French lunch: cheese, apple, baguette, tomatoes and olives. Oh I guess wine
would have made it the perfect French lunch, but we are not yet into that custom (wont take us long
I'm sure)
Mum and Dad napped and I went for a walk this afternoon. I headed out of town to the house we stayed in while we were last here and followed the footpath up the hill behind the town and then back down through the old area in the centre of town. It was a bit further than I had intended but helped me remember the layout.
The house we stayed in last time looked much the same.
The abandoned convent next door looked even more overgrown.
From above the town I had a clear view of Canagou, the mountain that is the centre of Catalonia.
The top was obscured by clouds but there's plenty of snow up there and more in the forecast.
Coming home from my walk looking through the arches by the library and into
Place de la Republique.
