Cyprus - B6 and village walk.

After lunch in Kouklia we drove back along the B6. It is the original road, used before the motorway (A6) was put in and I much prefer it, especially as the section between Aphrodite's Rock and Pissouri has been re-opened. It was closed for over 3 years pending repair work due to a rockfall.

We didn't bother stopping at "the Rock" but did stop before we got there

where there were a bunch of these metal frames that we thought were rather silly but after looking at them on the computer, do add a nice frame to the picture. Probably meant for "Selfies".

Some of them you had to go up on a platform to get the angle of the shot right. Photo by Rick.

They lent themselves to the little locks with couples names and dates on them.

Further along; a roadside shrine with view.

Inside a variety of offerings from candles and icons to stones with writing on them and jewelry.

Taking the Pissouri Bay road home we stopped at St Spyridon Chapel

It is built into a cave at the base of a cliff. Relatively new it was constructed in the 1990s by a family that had fled from their village of Asha in the Turkish occupied northern zone. Dedicated to the saint who was also born in that village.

The next day, rain was in the forecast for the afternoon so we walked around the village, to give Rick the lay of the land so he can go off for walks when he feels like it.

Plenty of cats

in the village square, where they are being fed.

View from "the bakery road".

We got home just before the rain and I spent the afternoon painting the church on the Akamas Peninsular walk.
