Chris had originally hoped to be open on Feb 1st but the location needed far more renovation than could be done in a 1 month time frame. Then she hoped to be open on Feb 14 but that wasn't possible either, though she did have a Valentines event - giving away mini donuts and collecting donations for the Heart and Stroke fund.
Today Flipside Donut Cafe and Bar opened at 12 Casegoods Lane in the Distillery District and I couldn't be prouder of the courage and work that Christine has put into this. I wish I was there to celebrate with her.

This is what she sent to me on WhatsApp this afternoon (morning, her time) |
As you can see from the picture the brick wall, old pillars and their bases are still in evidence but she has gutted, cleaned, painted and added to the space, going for a rustic, industrial, comfortable feel.
She will be serving sweet mini donuts, savory mini donuts, occasion pastries, occasional savory tarts as well as coffees and teas. She is also licensed and will be serving a local beer and wine selection in addition to cocktail pairings.

Also sent by Chris on WhatsApp. She hasn't got all her seating in yet so things will look a little different. |
Chris has dreamed of being an Entrepreneur since working at Subway during High School and it has finally come to fruition. The hard work and excitement of opening is over now the hard work and excitement of running it starts.
