Cyprus - Kalidonia Falls

Continuing on from the last blog post, we drove through the mountains to Platres, using Jason's phone and Google Maps. Platres is considered the southern gateway to the Trodos mountain region, is full of restaurants and was quite busy. We followed signage to the trout farm.

and managed to find a parking spot and looked down at the farm fed by the river we were going to follow.

The guide book had described it as an easy and short hike up to the falls.

It started off easily with a gradual gradient and a good path.

The path ran beside the little river that fed the trout farm

It was very pretty, little waterfalls and rapids as we were constantly climbing upwards.

The path wound up the ravine, with bridges crossing and sometimes water running on the path.

As the path had got very rough, strewn with boulders, Chris and I stopped at a little picnic shelter and Jason, with Cigi, carried on.

Coming back down, I lent Chris one of my trekking poles, as she has a weak ankle.

Looking along the bough of a Strawberry Tree. Their fruit look a little like a strawberry and they have a smooth red trunk.

Cigi said she wanted to walk but what that really meant was that she wanted out of the harness that Jason was using to carry her and into his arms.

Filling her "sippy cup" from a mountain stream.

Final stop on Chis' tour: a chocolate shop where we got to taste samples to help us decide on our purchases. Gigi is a fan of dark chocolate!
